Philanthropy of Founder

During his career, Michael Lee-Chin, the founder of Portland Holdings Inc., has actively shared his investment prosperity with the communities in which his businesses have operated.

Among his many personal philanthropic initiatives in recent years, Mr. Lee-Chin made a personal donation of $30 million to the Royal Ontario Museum. The ROM has named its new crystal building addition the ‘Michael Lee-Chin Crystal’, and the interior atrium court the ‘Hyacinth Gloria Chen Crystal Court’ in honour of his mother. Mr. Lee-Chin’s contribution supports a project that will change the face of Toronto and sustain an invaluable cultural and educational legacy for all of Ontario and the rest of Canada.
